California dreamin’…..of fall fashion

NativeAmericanInspired2 NativeAmericanInspired1 FeatherNecklace

When you live in Southern California you never really get a proper Autumn season. It’s a tiny tragedy for me since fall is my favorite time of the year. Not only for it’s beautiful colors and crisp cool weather, but for the fashion. I keep trying to wear sweaters and boots and find myself overheating in the hot sun. I’m not giving up hope though.

But not to fear… (because I know how terrified you all are for me and my FOMO on fall fashion), it does cool down eventually and then I can bust out the good stuff. Until then it’s a bit of an awkward transitional period. It’s practically October so it feels strange wearing flip flops and a sun dress, but the weather says otherwise. I like to keep it breezy but sprinkle in the fall fashion.

I opted for a thin black sweater and an Aztec inspired print skirt. I added a pair of suede olive booties and my new Shoot the Moon LA feather necklace to keep with the Native American theme (get one for yourself or check out all the other awesome affordable pieces! In the evening I switched out the suede boots for black leather heel booties, took out my braid and spruced up my makeup and VOILA I’m ready for a night out!

As fun as this faux fall outfit is, I’m so ready for scarves and layering. Bring on Autumn Los Angeles!

It’s a Party in the USA

redwhiteblueI fought with myself on making the title of this post a Miley Cyrus song lyric, but it is what it is, ok? Leave me alone, I do what I want… like Miley Cyrus. But whatever… that beef we have is done with.

Today I’m celebrating America in all red white and blue. I love being festive for the holidays. I used to feel the need to go shopping for a new festive outfit for every Fourth of July. I was borderline obsessive about getting the perfect outfit. Now that I’m a mature, level-headed adult (yeah I’m pushin’ it), I realized it’s not about the outfit, it’s about our country. Just kidding, I realized that I have plenty to work with in my closet already!

I bought this skirt in 2007 at Forever 21. When I bought it, it was ahead of it’s time, but I’m glad I’ve held on to it as it’s still stylish today! I paired it with a red tank and some festive jewelry. Simple as that!

Everyone have a happy and safe Fourth of July weekend! And from a full blown hypochondriac, remember to wear sun screen!

Fave color block maxi skirt

maxi skirt no jacket

maxi skirt with jacket

I bought this adorable color block maxi skirt at some boutique shop on Ventura blvd. I wish I remembered the name of the store but I sadly do not.

I bought it when I first moved out here about a year ago and haven’t worn it until 2 nights ago! I have no idea why because i just love it. It’s got a short skirt attached underneath and the top layer is sheer. I love the nude and mint color blocking.

It took me a while to decide what kind of top to wear with this skirt. The skirt definitely needs to be the main focus of the outfit so I just kept the rest really simple and opted for a cream colored tank top. I also paired it with a cropped jean jacket for later in the night when it cooled down. I think it added an edgy casual flair to the feminine piece. The jacket, necklace and purse are all from Urban Outfitters.

Stay in vogue!
